FACULTY OF HUMANITIES

Humanities Leadership

HUMAN 3CM3 Cross-Cultural Mentoring Lab (Fall)

Mentor Application Form

Deadline:

  • Fall 2024: September 1, 2024 or pending seat availability

Thank you for your interest in the Faculty of Humanities’ Mentorship & Cross-Cultural Fluency Lab.

Approved students register in one Lecture slot AND in one Tutorial slot AND one lab slot. The tutorial and lab slots correspond to mentor-mentee meeting times.

This course will be different from other courses you have taken.  Mentoring is learned by trying, evaluating, and trying again, and by reflecting on your own experiences and the experiences of others.

This course will involve:

  • considerable group discussions, debriefing sessions, and collaborative work
  • regular reflection on mentorship meetings
  • the opportunity to have a lasting and positive impact on students new to the university and perhaps new to the country
  • a final portfolio project that will pull together theory and practice into a story of your experience in the course

We make the following commitments to you. We will:

  • provide you with guidance, training, and knowledge of mentoring best practices
  • share our own stories and experiences with you, and support your mentoring journey
  • work with you to answer your questions, help you to improve, and assist you in finding solutions to any issues that come up when mentoring
