McMaster is well known for its innovations in teaching and our commitment to different learning styles and different active classroom types remains unwavering. Starting in 2016, instructors in the Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences began using active-learning classrooms. These technology rich, 360 degree classrooms are located primarily in L.R. Wilson Hall with the ability to accommodate between 48-108 students in a class.
The rooms emphasize collaborative learning and create new and exciting opportunities for students. The instructor’s workstation is located in the centre of the room and their teaching is supported by screens, projectors, and portable white-boards.
Support
Facilities are jointly managed by the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Social Sciences, and other support services around campus. Instructors are taught and supported in the use of these innovative learning spaces.
Location
Active Learning Classrooms are found primarily in the L.R. Wilson Hall building as well as on the second floor of Togo Salmon Hall.
